Time Flies....

Monday Luke will be 8 weeks old, and I will be heading back to work. 8 weeks have never gone by so quickly. I'm pretty sad but looking forward to getting us all on some kind of routine. We've just kinda been flying by the seats of our pants the past 8 weeks. Evan is super excited about taking his baby Luke to day care. He's been talking about it all week. It will be interesting to see if he's protective or just showing off. Either way, he adores his little brother, for now. I'm waiting to see in a year when Luke can get to Evan's toys how Evan feels then.

We got a monster of a snowstorm today, about 20 inches. Snow emergencies all over the place, and after hours of shoveling, only one car is dug out. Guess we'll tackle the second one tomorrow. Evan had fun playing with snowballs while Luke slept and Daddy shoveled.

My Boys

There are days that I still can't believe I'm a mom, let alone a mom of two now. Time seems to fly, when I look at Evan, I think "Where has the last three years gone?" I hold Luke and feel like I can't remember Evan being that little. If we could only slow down time, even if for a little while.

Poor Evan. He caught whatever stomach bug was going around. Luckily, it seemed to be the 24 hour bug. God love him, through all the throwing up and generally feeling awful, he constantly thanked us for cleaning up after him and taking care of him. "Thank you mommy, for taking good care of me" he'd say. There are days that I think I'm going to pull out my hair, when he's not listening, or purposely pushing my buttons. Then there are days like yesterday, when with teary eyes, I think I just may have the most wonderful, polite little boy in the entire world.

Luke is taking to being a Truett like a champ. He's gaining weight well, and loves his big brother. So much so that Evan will just sit beside him and talk to him, and Luke will give him the biggest smile or just coo at him. I hope that they will be best friends down the line. Sleeping seems to be our only problem. Luke likes being held, thanks to daddy. Who insists that he's just being lazy when he lets Luke sleep on him. I'm trying to break them both of that habit...

Long overdue....

We've been a little busy in the Truett house since Mid-December. On December 14th, we welcomed Lucian Christopher (aka Luke) into the family. Evan has taken on the role of big brother so well. He's very gentle and concerned, let's hope that keeps up! He doesn't however, understand why Luke just can't get up and play with him. In time, we tell him, in time.

Christmas was a blast this year. Evan really enjoyed all of his presents and liked to help out by opening Luke's gifts and showing him his loot. All in all, we feel we had a very blessed holiday, I hope you all had the same.

A special visitor

We had a visitor to our home tonight, Santa Claus! Santa came to see Evan to ask what he wanted for Christmas, find out if he was excited about his baby brother that's coming, and to go over some things, both nice and naughty. Evan was a little skittish at first, but once Santa read him a story and gave him a little gift, life was good. Evan even packed up some cookies for Santa and the Mrs, as well as a bag of carrots for Rudolf. What a great night.

Monday's the big day. We go in for our scheduled C-section. Evan says he's ready for baby Luke, so we'll see what happens. Wish us luck!

Happy Halloween!

Tonight was trick or treat night. At first, Evan wasn't so sure about going to people's houses he didn't know. After a few, he keep saying, "Just one more house, then we can go home." Just one more house ended up being about 15, but he had a blast. Happy Halloween everyone!

A Day Out With Thomas

We had a blast today at the Strassburg Railroad, going to see Thomas. I wasn't completely sure how Evan would react, but when he saw Thomas come in he started yelling and jumping "Yay Thomas, I get to ride you today!" He had a blast on the Thomas train, the miniature coal train and the caboose ride. He can't wait to see Thomas again.

Fun on the Farm

We took advantage of the long weekend over Labor Day and headed out to Ga and Pap's farm for the weekend. Much to everyone's surprise, Evan decided he wanted to ride the tractor, and the blue jeep! The tractor was quite a feat for our little man, who generally doesn't like loud noises. We played outside, saw the animals and visited with some family. A great way to spend a long weekend.
